COA-RMCL SIGNS MOU WITH TAKORADI TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

The COA Research and Manufacturing Company Limited, (COA RMCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Takoradi Technical University, (TTU) to further deepen the relationship between Academia and Industry.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on Monday, April 17th, 2023, the Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Professor John Frank Eshun noted that the mandate of the University requires that it establish a relationship with industry in order to prepare students for the world of work.

He said the TTU is also considering engaging in joint research with the COA-RMCL with the aim of producing products that can be commercialized. This, he believes, can be made possible if the two entities commit themselves to the objective.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the CEO and management of the COA-RMCL for accepting to partner with TTU. He said the partnership should make a strong case for the need for Academia and Industry to come together since there are several benefits that may accrue to both parties.

On his part, the Founder/CEO of COA-RMCL, Professor Samuel Ato Duncan reiterated the need for a closer partnership between industry and academia. He observed that many Ghanaian manufacturers import their production equipment into the country, thereby bringing pressure to bear on the cedi. “We need to promote Made in Ghana and therefore this partnership with TTU should lead to a situation where you can help fabricate for industries like ours, equipment that will be effective and efficient in our production processes, “he said.

Professor Duncan enumerated the successes chalked by the COA-RMCL in the areas of research and product development. He added that the COA-RMCL is in the process of developing other medications from plants that aim to address health conditions that hitherto have no known cure.

“I am optimistic that this partnership will enable us to work together in developing other products to help address disease conditions, equip students with practical skills, and create jobs,” he observed.

Professor Duncan, also announced that the COA-RMCL shall support ten students from the Disability Unit every year as part of the company’s contribution towards empowering Persons with disabilities.

The Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Professor John Frank Eshun, signed on behalf of the TTU whiles Professor Samuel Ato Duncan signed on behalf of the COA -RMCL.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Management of COA-RMCL on the one hand and the Academic Board of the TTU on the other hand.
